Jellyfish Business Solutions has been confirmed as the front-of-shirt partner for Glamorgan Cricket Club’s County Championship team for the 2026 season, marking a significant milestone in a partnership that has developed steadily over the past five years.

As the club’s Official IT Partner, Jellyfish has been working closely with the club since 2021, playing a vital role in the successful operation of Sophia Gardens as a major international venue, both on matchdays and behind the scenes.

Overseeing critical systems, including the Club’s IT network, managed print services and telephone infrastructure, this new sponsorship deal takes the partnership to the next level.

“We are incredibly proud of the relationship we have built with Glamorgan over the past five years," said Jack Walsh, Managing Director at Jellyfish Business Solutions. A familiar scene for golfers at Whitchurch Golf Club has now changed forever - and for the better.

For years, players on the 3rd tee had to climb a set of metal steps to check if the fairway over the hill was clear. It was an awkward ritual. Climb. Check. Climb back down. Tee off.

Over time, the steps wore out, were patched up, and the cycle continued.

However, instead of taking a traditional route, the club took a smarter one.

They discussed the issue with the club's IT partner, Jellyfish Business Solutions, a Cardiff-based IT and security provider known for its innovative thinking, to ask: Can technology do a better job?

The answer was yes!

Replacing Steel Steps with Smart Surveillance

The solution is simple, effective, and very modern.

Jellyfish installed a high-definition, weatherproof camera system overlooking the 3rd fairway, paired with a robust, outdoor digital display positioned next to the tee box.

Now, players can glance at the screen before taking their shot, confident that the fairway is clear.

This new system has removed the need for physical checks and manual guesswork. It’s faster, safer, and a much more polished experience for members and visitors alike.

“It’s a perfect example of how digital thinking can solve very real problems,” said Rhys Clark of Jellyfish Business Solutions. “We already support all cameras across the golf club, so we knew this was a viable solution to the problem."

In a move set to transform the match day experience for fans and power the digital backbone of Dragons RFC, IT specialists Jellyfish Business Solutions have signed a major five-year deal to become the Official IT Partner of the historic rugby region.

As one of South East Wales’ fastest-growing IT providers, Jellyfish has announced a six-figure, multi-year partnership with Dragons RFC, delivering next-generation IT infrastructure and becoming a prominent commercial partner of the club.

The landmark deal will see Jellyfish provide comprehensive IT support, VoIP phone systems, and a superfast leased line into Rodney Parade, helping bring the club’s digital capabilities in line with elite sporting venues.

As specialist IT partners for a wide range of Golf Clubs across South Wales, our diverse selection of services makes us the perfect fit for clubs of all sizes.

One such partner is Llanwern Golf Club, and after hearing a presentation Rhys Clark gave at a Golf Club Managers Association (GCMA) meeting, their club manager, Luke Bearcroft, contacted us to discuss their IT needs.

They wanted to improve their wireless and networking services at the club to enable the club staff to work more efficiently and also to offer reliable wireless internet services to members, guests, as well as corporate events held at the club.

After conducting an initial site visit, we discussed their specific requirements, which included:

Wireless provision around the area of the first tee, to be serviced from the Pro Shop
Providing a connection for players to the various golf applications, such as HowDidiDo, ClubV1 and Wales Golf (World Handicap System).

Issues with the existing wireless setup:

The main issue the club had was with the wireless provision around the clubhouse.

The signal came from a single router as opposed to access points located in positions that allow good distribution of wireless signal.

The signal was impeded by walls and obstructions, which resulted in the wireless signal being quite poor in areas such as the large bar area, the smaller bar area and the rear area near the locker rooms where there is a score terminal for members to use.

Telephone, IT Support and Office 365

We also discussed the issues the club was facing with emails and how the club could save money by migrating to a VoIP phone system.

Project overview

After understanding the club's IT needs and working with them to develop a 360-degree solution that future-proofed the organisation, the project involved:

✅ Replacing the current broadband circuit with a faster service

✅ Replacing the switches and install access points throughout the clubhouse

✅ Replacing the cable running from the clubhouse to the Pro Shop

✅ Tidying up the cabling and switches behind the desk and in the office

✅ Migrating Email to Office 365

✅ Implementing Microsoft SharePoint for file sharing, collaboration and backup

✅ Migrating phone system to Jellyfish

✅ Moved the IT Support to Jellyfish so the club have a ‘one-stop-shop’ for all support services

Office 365

After a thorough assessment of their IT needs, we set up IT Support for all the club's computers and installed new Office 365 licenses for the staff adding security as well as matching up their email addresses with their website domain.

The club had outgrown the desktop printer that was no longer meeting their needs, so we installed a multi-function printer which gave them more capacity as well as a multitude of helpful features.

Broadband & Wifi

As part of local fibre upgrades, we were able to install FTTP (fibre to the premises), which meant they were able to get a much faster and more reliable broadband connection.

The club already had a number of Ubuiqiti access points around the clubhouse but needed better coverage in the pro shop, so we installed new access points there. This meant the pro and his staff could maximise their Trackman simulator and Zen putting facilities without any downtime, and the junior members of the club could now enjoy Wi-Fi in their dedicated room which is attached to the back of the pro shop building.

Telecomms

With the availability of FTTP, the club were able to cancel their leased telephone and move across to VoIP, which offers substantial monthly savings.

We were also asked to review the telecommunications hardware, and after assessing the club's needs for handsets at different locations around the site, we installed new Yealink handsets and a mix of desk and DECT phones (Digital Enhanced Cordless Telephones).

Summary.

Not only have we improved connectivity, communication and improved operational efficiency, but have also saved the club money when compared to their previous monthly bills.

Cricket Partnership Goes from Strength to Strength

Jellyfish Business Solutions is celebrating the third year of its partnership with the Glamorgan County Cricket Club.

The Cardiff-based IT, Telecommunications and Managed Print firm has been the Official IT Partner of the club since 2021, however, the partnership is a lot more than simply a sponsorship deal as Glamorgan CEO, Dan Cherry explains.

"Our relationship with Jellyfish is quite unique in so much as they are more than just sponsors, they are an integral part of the running of the stadium."

With oversight of a range of systems including the IT network, WiFi, managed print system, telephones and much more, Jellyfish have a permanent team based at Sophia Gardens to assist with day-to-day operations.

"Having the team on-site is a huge bonus to the running of the stadium," said Mr Cherry. "Not only are they able to react to any issues that arise immediately, but they work to understand our people, our partners, sub-contractors and more to assess their needs and make sure the IT infrastructure is in place, which is particularly important on match days," he continued.

With visiting teams, media, and sponsors, not to mention the potential for over 15,000 supporters, matchdays at the ground require precision planning when it comes to the IT network.

"The Media Centre alone can house upwards of 50+ journalists, sports commentators, live broadcasters and more, so the network needs to be stable and operational, something we know we can rely on Jellyfish to provide," explained Dan.

Exiting the club's existing phone contract

The deal, which includes signage at the Arms Park ground, membership of the club's business networking group, an executive box, season tickets and more, builds on an already successful relationship between the two organisations.

On Friday 29th September, Jellyfish Business Solutions held their inaugural Charity Golf Day at Wenvoe Castle Golf Club in order to raise as much money as possible for their chosen charity, City Hospice Cardiff.

With over 100 golfers taking part, and many auction prizes donated by local business people and friends of the firm, the day was a huge success raising a fantastic £4,648.69 for City Hospice Cardiff and cementing the event as an annual activity for the firm.

"We had a great day," said Rhys Clark and Mike Chick, the two Jellyfish staff members who spearheaded the organising of the event. "Not only was the weather on our side and the course in fantastic condition but with it being the first day of the Ryder Cup, a lot of the players stayed on into the evening to watch the opening games, which was the perfect end to a great day" they reflected.

With a strong drive to help local charities, Jellyfish Business Solutions supports many charitable organisations with their IT needs, however, for this event, they decided to focus their attention on City Hospice as director Jack Walsh explains.

"As local providers of palliative care in the community for people with life-limiting conditions, the work City Hospice do is truly awesome, so we were only too happy to support this worthwhile cause and look forward to doing as much as we can for them in the years to come."

So, you or your staff can easily work from your premises, home, a hotel, or a café using their normal "works telephone number", meaning you don't need to be in the office to make or receive calls.

Transfers are Free

You can also transfer calls from your site to a staff members mobile phone, so if you have a staff member working remotely, your receptionist can quickly transfer an incoming call to the relevant person - free of charge.

Always Use Your "Works" Telephone Number Wherever You Are

Staff working from home? Your IT support could help your employees’ mental health

One of the biggest changes to our lives due to COVID has been the millions of people across the UK working from home for the first time.

The COVID-19 pandemic accelerated the trend which has been building for the past decade.

Figures released by the Office for National Statistics show 35.9% of workers did some work at home in 2020, an increase of 9.4% compared with 2019.

As the pandemic recedes, businesses in the public, private and third sectors, are weighing up whether to get staff back into their premises full time or allow home working permanently or a mixture of both.

It might make great business sense, but research by the Royal Society for Public Health showed there are both pros and cons to home working for employees.

Many workers polled (45%) felt working from home was better for their health and wellbeing in many ways, but 67% felt less connected to colleagues, 59% said they felt isolated, and 56% also said they found it harder to switch off.

Despite that, most workers didn’t want to go back to working in an office full time – 74% wanted to split their time between home working and working in an office.

It’s clear workers like the flexibility of home working but often miss the interaction with people in their workplace, its atmosphere, and the fun they can have with colleagues.

So, employers need to think about how they can support their home workers’ mental health to ensure they remain happy and productive.

You might think it an unusual place to start but reviewing how you use your IT systems could be the key to unlocking vital support for your staff.

Which IT products could help your home workers’ mental health?

VOIP – Or Voice Over Internet Protocol. This is a phone system which can be used anywhere there’s an internet connection.

During the pandemic, many businesses diverted calls from their traditional landline-based phone systems to employees’ mobile phones.

Few businesses had time to order and buy work mobiles for their staff when the lockdown was ordered, so in some cases, these calls were diverting to the staff member’s personal mobile.

That meant staff were often faced with out of hours calls and couldn’t transfer them to a colleague for help, so they had to hang up, call the colleague or text them, and pass on a message.

Customers and suppliers were also using WhatsApp with the staff member’s phone numbers outside office hours, often leading to extra hours of work to answer those messages.

Combine that pressure with feeling isolated from colleagues and managers, and the situation can have a detrimental effect on mental health.

Switching to a VoIP system can help take some of the pressure off home workers and help them feel more connected to the team in the office.

VoIP systems give free internal calls and transfers, wherever they are, and calls can be easily forwarded to mobile phones.

You can still make local, national, and international calls, and your hosted telephone system has hundreds of useful features.

The fact businesses could also make substantial savings when compared to standard landlines is great for the bottom line, too.

Teams and Zoom - Online video calls have transformed the way we do business.

Ten different people receiving an email could read it in ten different ways, and voice-only phone calls don’t allow us to see important facial expressions and body language.

Video calls over platforms like Teams and Zoom have enabled us to have those nuanced conversations with our colleagues.

Stacking video calls up back-to-back throughout the day can cause problems, though, as staff then spend extra hours in the evenings to catch up on the work from the meetings.

If your staff are telling you they’re Zoomed out, how about designating a specific day of the week as no video call day? Friday could be No Zoom/Teams Day, for example.

Giving workers the opportunity to dial into calls without the video function on may also take the pressure off. That prevents them from having to scurry around tidying up the spare room, kitchen, or lounge before they dial-in.

Teams messaging groups – One of the things home working staff miss is the feeling of chatting around the water cooler, the social engagement they get from colleagues during breaks.

Microsoft Office 365’s Teams allows you to recreate some of that feeling by creating messaging groups with easy-to-follow chat threads.

Perfect for a little office banter!

Email – The way you set up your email system could also take the pressure off hard-pressed home workers.

Some businesses are already aware of the fact email is one of the biggest time eaters for most employees, and it’s disheartening when someone has replied to all without thinking whether every person who receives it needs to get an extra email.

Some inboxes are so cluttered that staff members dread opening with them.

So, several forward-thinking businesses have decided to remove the ‘reply to all’ function off their emails to avoid this situation.

IT problems like this can cause so much frustration and when you’re working from home, you can feel like no one is there to support you. Many homeworkers feel out of their depth trying to fix these problems themselves.
