James Kemp Biography

Job role:

Telecoms consultant.

How long have you been working in the IT sector?

Since I was 20 years old - so about 25 years.

What did you do prior to that?

All kinds of odd jobs, from bar work to document storage. I even ran a Kleeneze distribution for a short time!

What aspect of IT is your speciality?

I specialise in Telecommunications - so that means dealing with fixed line services, broadband, mobiles and hosted telephone systems. Whilst this isn't all that I do, this is where my knowledge base and skills are widest.

What does your role include on a day-to-day basis?

Everything and anything. Each day is unpredictable, but I love that variety. A lot of my time is spent with customers - helping them make the best use of their systems and troubleshooting any issues that come up.

What are your hobbies outside of work?

I'm an avid gamer, an amateur chef, and a lover of long walks in beautiful weather. I'm a proud father of two, and a long-suffering cat dad to the world's dimmest cat. I enjoy watching and playing sports (football, motor racing, skiing, etc.) and I coach an under-10s football team on the weekend.
